our Ditch the plastic project

Parabhrama or Plastic?

There’s something unnatural, and not dharmic about plastic.

Thantri Bhattathiripad, a pujari and farmer, at Mangaladevi Mandir in Northern Kerala says, “It is very sad to see very old plastic packaging coming out of the soil when I plough my land. Even the emblems, the brand names will still be on there—it’s like an immortal substance. Only Parabhrama—the Supreme Being—is supposed to last forever!”

Our Ditch The Plastic campaign is aimed at raising awareness for the ongoing plastic issue and we hope this page helps you in going a step further in ditching the plastic! We have composed some resources, including 10 simple steps to reduce your plastic waste (see below) and a fact sheet to highlight the key issues plastic pollution poses. If you would like to find out how your Mandir, community centre or group can implement these ideas, email us using: NAMASTE@HINDUCLIMATEACTION.ORG

We will also be hosting a collaborative litter pick on World Environment Day (5th June) with a toolkit available to help support you when you host your own community litter pick! Have a look at our socials @hinduclimateaction for updates about this.

In the meantime have a look at our tool kit!
